Grover Hot Springs
Facilities and Activities
Hiking, Fishing and Camping
We heartily recommend the self-guided loop trail starting at the Campground Bridge. It has descriptions of the area's natural history. Visitors can fish the creek during the summer months. Catchable-size trout are planted periodically while the creek maintains an adequate waterflow. Four miles east of the park is the Carson River, and farther upstream is Silver Creek, both noted for their excellent trout fishing.
Hot Springs
The hot springs-fed pools are associated with the faulting that developed with the rise of the Sierra Nevada millions of years ago. Surface water finds its way through the cracks in the earth's crust to hot rock thousands of feet below; then bubbles to the surface, carrying dissolved minerals along its way. For many years, people sought the curative powers they believed existed in the springs. The springs were said to help cure a long list of chronic illnesses.
