The Sierra State Parks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We support eight parks in the Sierra District of the California State Parks system. Proceeds from our retail, membership, special event, and grant activities go to further our preservation and education mission in those parks. Each park has a "Friends Of..." group focusing on the needs of that park:
Friends of Bodie (State Historic Park) ~
Friends of DL Bliss ~
Friends of Donner Memorial ~
Friends of Emerald Bay ~
Friends of Grover Hot Springs -
Friends of Mono Lake (State Tufa Reserve) ~
Friends of Sugar Pine Point ~
Friends of TSRA (Tahoe State Recreation Area)
Our efforts to preserve Sierra regional heritage sites began in 1968 when a dedicated group of Lake Tahoe citizens formed the Lake Tahoe State Parks Advisory Committee. The committee was formed in response to plans by the California Division of Beaches and Parks to demolish Pine Lodge (also known as the Ehrman mansion) in order to create a large campsite area.
Over the years, the organization has grown to include historic preservation and interpretation efforts at these eight Sierra District parks. Whether you join SSPF to support all these parks, or you join as a Friend of your favorite park, you make a difference for all of them.
