TRUCKEE, CA – The Sierra State Parks Foundation is proud to announce that it has received a $1,500 grant from the Truckee Core Values Event Fund to support Legacy Day at Donner Memorial State Park on June 20, 2026.
This community event fund, established by a collaboration between the Truckee Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Truckee, and administered by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, supports local nonprofits and events that partner with nonprofit organizations by providing essential marketing resources.
“We’re proud to help increase participation in nonprofit events that bring our community together,” said Jessica Penman, President & CEO of the Truckee Chamber. “The Truckee Core Values Event Fund reflects our shared commitment with the Town of Truckee to support meaningful events that highlight the spirit, creativity, and character of Truckee.”
The Sierra State Parks Foundation and California State Parks will be hosting the fourth annual Legacy Day, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of the cultural, natural, and historical richness of the land at Donner Memorial State Park. Save the date of Saturday, June 20, for a day of discovery, storytelling, and community spirit at one of California’s most storied landscapes.
“At Donner Memorial State Park, the past is deeply connected to the present. Legacy Day honors the living culture of the Washoe people, reflects on lessons learned from the Donner Emigrant Party, and affirms our shared responsibility to preserve the environmental legacy of this place for future generations,” states Jeremy Lin, District Interpretive Manager for California State Parks’ Sierra District.
This free public event invites visitors of all ages to explore the enduring legacy of the land and the people who have called it home. Legacy Day is designed to engage, educate, and inspire, bringing together residents, visitors, and partners to reflect on the stories, traditions, and environmental significance of the Donner region.
Admission to the event is free, with a $10 day-use parking fee per vehicle. No reservations are required.
The Sierra State Parks Foundation and California State Parks invite the public to spend the day immersed in heritage, culture, and nature at Donner Memorial State Park.
