Stewarding Knowledges: Tending Good Fire in the Tahoe Basin

  • Gatekeeper's Museum 130 West Lake Boulevard Tahoe City, CA, 96145 United States (map)

A collaborative event between California State Parks, University of San Francisco, Washiw Zulshis Goom Tahn Nu, Center for the Study of the Force Majeure, and the Gatekeeper’s Museum that we are happy to share as a partner event!

The goal of the event is to create a Washoe-led, community-centered conversation about the Rights of Nature and the future of Da’aw’ ‘Tahoe’ — decolonizing stewardship by holding Indigenous Knowledges at the center of a collaborative process.

Working together are artists, scientists, storytellers, Washoe Basketmakers, Singers, and Knowledge Keepers — who are now designing Future Gardens and creating a process that prioritizes Indigenous leadership and the material, cultural, and spiritual plants of importance to the Wasiw People.

The event will include music, dance, stories, demonstrations, and discussions as well as museum and garden tours.
