Changes to Reserve California policies are Coming

California State Parks is updating the campsite reservation policies regarding the cancellation timeline and fees, no-show penalties, and related changes to the modification and early out policies on Reserve California (this is the site you'll use to reserve a campsite at any California State Parks).

Refunds of site fees will be provided for cancellations made seven or more days ahead of the reservation period. After that, there will be a penalty of the first night’s site fee.

Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival or no-shows will forfeit all fees paid. If a person does not show up for their reservation (no-show) three times in a calendar year, they will be banned from placing reservations for one year!

It can be frustrating not being able to get a campsite, especially when many go unused by no-show parties. The intent of the policy change is to encourage reservation holders who cannot use their reservation to cancel earlier so the sites can be rebooked, allowing more visitors to camp in California State Parks.
