Free July Tahoe Park Programs

LAKE TAHOE, JULY 5, 2026 - There’s still plenty of summer in Tahoe to be had, and what better way than to recreate in our parks!
We are thrilled to highlight our partner, California State Parks, and its free educational summer programs across three of Tahoe’s most iconic parks: D.L. Bliss State Park, Emerald Bay State Park, and Sugar Pine Point State Park. Sierra State Parks Foundation proudly sponsors and helps fund these free park programs.
Whether you are a resident or a visitor, these interactive schedules offer something for nature lovers of all ages.
D.L. Bliss State Park
Following its massive infrastructure upgrades, D.L. Bliss State Park is fully open and welcoming back visitors. Drop by the newly refinished Visitor Center to pick up your park gear and gear up for these free weekly events:
Friday, July 3, at 6-6:45 pm: Jr. Ranger Family Program — Join a park interpreter to explore our park and earn a Jr. Ranger Badge! The whole family is welcome to participate.
Saturdays, July 11, 18, and 25, at 6-6:45 pm: Jr. Ranger Family Program — Join a park interpreter to explore our park and earn a Jr. Ranger Badge! The whole family is welcome to participate.
Emerald Bay State Park
Emerald Bay State Park blends breathtaking scenery with rich cultural history. Skip the chaotic parking by taking the Emerald Bay Shuttle, and join us for these immersive programs:
Thursday, July 2, 9, 23, and 30 at 9-11 am: Guided hikes from the Rubicon to the Falls — Meet at Eagle Point Campground Amphitheater for a .2 mile one-way hike. Enjoy the beach and hike back on your own. Bring water, lunch, sun protection, binoculars, and sturdy shoes.
Friday, July 3, 24, and 31 at 6-6:45 pm: Jr. Ranger Program — Meet at the Eagle Point Campground Amphitheater. Join a park interpreter to explore our park and earn a Jr. Ranger Badge! The whole family is welcome to participate.

Sugar Pine Point State Park
With its easier lake access and deep historical roots, Sugar Pine Point State Park is the ultimate hub for relaxed, educational summer fun.
Friday, July 17 and 24 at 6-6:45 pm: Jr. Ranger Family — Meet at the Sugar Pine Campground Amphitheater. Join a park interpreter to explore our park and earn a Jr. Ranger Badge! The whole family is welcome to participate.
Sunday, July 19 at 8:30-10 pm: Movie on the Lawn — Join us to watch “Bears of Durango” at Sugar Pine Day Use on the lawn below Pine Lodge. Bring chairs, ground blankets, and warm clothes to learn about how to keep bears wild.
Fridays 8:10 am and 9:50 am: Morning Kayak Tours — Join us for a free interpretative kayak tour! Must register in advance using QR code.
Saturdays 8:40 am: Morning Kayak Tours — Join us for a free interpretative kayak tour! Must register in advance using QR code.

Visit Caltrans for current road conditions, head out early in the morning, or jump on the TART Connect micro-transit to glide past the traffic and make it to your favorite free park program on time!
